Juvelook

For pores, fine lines & acne scars
Skin booster designed to support collagen production

What is Juvelook®?

Juvelook is a Korean-made skin-booster injectable whose main components are PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) and non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid. Designed to support collagen production, it is used to address pores, fine lines, acne scars, and overall skin texture. PDLLA is a bioabsorbable material also used in surgical sutures, and is reported to gradually break down in the body over 1–2 years after injection.

At our clinic, we propose the optimal injection technique from two methods based on your concerns and treatment area: uniform delivery via a water-light injection device and targeted manual injection by the physician.

*Juvelook is not approved in Japan and is obtained via personal-import by the physician. For details, please refer to the “Self-pay treatment / drug information” section at the bottom of this page.

WORRIES — Recommended for

Recommended for Juvelook

・Concerned about enlarged pores
・Considering improvement of acne scars (atrophic / crater-type)
・Concerned about fine lines or uneven skin texture
・Looking to support skin firmness and elasticity
・Want a natural-looking result
・Want to support skin from the inside through collagen stimulation
・Men concerned about skin texture
・Looking for a procedure with minimal downtime

FEATURE — Key features

Point1

Collagen production support via PDLLA

PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) is a bioabsorbable material that gradually degrades in the body over 1–2 years after injection. As it breaks down, it gently stimulates collagen production, supporting an approach to skin firmness, elasticity, and texture. PDLLA is also used in surgical sutures and has a long history of medical use.

Point2

Choice of two injection methods

We offer Juvelook through the following two methods. We propose the optimal method based on your concerns and the treatment area.

Water-light injection method: Uniform delivery across the entire face using a water-light injection device. Suitable for broad-area pore and skin-quality care.
Manual physician injection: The physician personally injects targeted areas such as acne scars or specific pores. Suitable for areas requiring focused treatment.

Point3

Multi-faceted approach to pores and acne scars

Juvelook is gaining attention as an option that addresses multiple skin concerns simultaneously, including enlarged pores, atrophic (crater-type) acne scars, uneven texture, and fine lines. Through collagen production support, it may contribute to overall improvement in skin texture.

Point4

Short procedure with minimal downtime

The procedure takes approximately 10–20 minutes, with topical numbing cream and fine needles used together to manage discomfort. Mild redness or swelling may occur but typically subsides within 2–3 days, and makeup can be resumed the day after.

Point5

Procedure performed by an experienced physician

At our clinic, an experienced physician handles everything from consultation to the procedure itself. Juvelook injections carry reported risks of serious complications such as vascular embolism and skin necrosis, making anatomical knowledge and injection technique essential. We attentively address each patient’s skin condition and concerns.

Important notes (risks, side effects, downtime)

スクロールできます
Procedure timeApprox. 10–20 minutes (varies by injection method and area)
AnesthesiaTopical numbing cream is applied (approx. 30 minutes). Please let us know in advance if you are sensitive to pain.
DowntimeMild redness, swelling, or bruising may occur. Most patients see these symptoms subside within 2–3 days, though bruising may persist for 1–2 weeks. Showering, makeup, and face washing are possible from the day after.
Bathing & exerciseShowering is possible from the same day; bathing from the next day. Vigorous exercise, sauna, alcohol, and strong massage of the treated area should be avoided for approximately 1 week.
Main risks & side effectsRedness, swelling, bruising, stinging sensation, induration (lumps), injection marks, granuloma formation, infection, allergic reactions, and individual variation in effects.

Serious risks: Vascular embolism from inadvertent intravascular injection, skin necrosis, vision impairment, and long-term lumps or granuloma formation. If you experience symptoms suggesting vascular embolism (severe pain, skin discoloration, visual abnormalities, etc.), please contact our clinic or an emergency medical facility immediately.

Effects and side effects vary by individual. While the frequency of serious side effects is reported to be low, it is not zero.
Recommended frequencyAn initial series of three sessions at one-month intervals is recommended, followed by maintenance every 6 months to 1 year. Frequency and intervals are adjusted based on skin condition.
Patients who cannot receive this treatmentPregnant or breastfeeding individuals; those prone to keloid formation; those with autoimmune disease (such as scleroderma); those with infection, eczema, or herpes at the treatment site; those taking anticoagulants; those with bleeding tendencies; those with poorly controlled diabetes; minors; those with drug allergies; and others judged unsuitable by the physician.

*The above describes a general course; pain, downtime, and effects vary by individual.
*Procedure time does not include consultation or numbing cream application.
*Please always inform us during consultation if you have any medical history, current medications, or allergies.
*If you experience any change in your condition after the procedure, please contact us immediately.

FLOW — Procedure steps

STEP
Consultation & physician examination (approx. 10 min)

The physician asks about your concerns, skin condition, and goals, and recommends whether the water-light injection method or the manual injection method is most suitable. Allergies, medical history, and current medications are also confirmed at this stage. We carefully explain the risks before proceeding.

Consultation & examination
STEP
Makeup removal & numbing cream application (approx. 30 min)
Makeup removal

Please remove your makeup, and we’ll cleanse the treatment area. Numbing cream is then applied, and you’ll wait approximately 30 minutes.

STEP
Juvelook injection (approx. 10–20 min)

Juvelook is carefully injected using either the water-light device or the manual physician technique. To avoid inadvertent intravascular injection, the physician carefully confirms needle placement throughout. We check in with you and confirm your condition as the procedure progresses.

Juvelook injection
STEP
Cooling & aftercare guidance
Cooling & aftercare

After the procedure, we cool the area to help reduce redness and warmth. We carefully explain aftercare precautions (avoiding massage, hot baths, exercise, etc.) and discuss your next appointment if needed.

STEP
Going home & follow-up

Makeup is possible from the next day. Effects appear gradually over several weeks to several months. After confirming your condition at one month, we discuss maintenance at the recommended frequency (one-month intervals for the initial three sessions). Please contact us at any time if you have any concerns.

About Juvelook

Juvelook is a skin-booster injectable combining PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) and non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid. PDLLA is a bioabsorbable material also used in surgical sutures, and as it gradually breaks down over 1–2 years after injection, it aims to support collagen production.

What sets Juvelook apart is the option to address a combination of skin concerns simultaneously — pores, atrophic acne scars, fine lines, and uneven texture. At our clinic, we offer two methods: uniform delivery via a water-light injection device, and manual injection by the physician using a hand-held needle. We choose between them based on your concerns and treatment area.

The water-light injection method suits broad-area concerns such as overall pores and texture, while the manual injection method is suited to targeted care of areas like acne scars or specific pores. We may also combine the two.

Because this is an injection procedure, understanding the risks is important. If the product is inadvertently injected into a blood vessel, serious complications such as vascular embolism, skin necrosis, or visual abnormalities can occur. While the frequency is reported to be low, it is not zero. We carefully apply our anatomical knowledge throughout the injection and continue to communicate with you during the procedure.

Juvelook is also a non-Japanese-approved drug. A domestically approved PDLLA-based product called “Sculptra®” exists, but Juvelook is characterized by its finer particles and the addition of non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid. Please consider the risks and benefits carefully before deciding.

If you’re interested, please feel welcome to come in for a consultation.

Q&A (FAQ)

Should I choose the water-light injection or the manual physician injection?

The water-light injection method suits patients who want to improve pores, texture, and skin quality uniformly across the face, while manual injection by the physician suits those wanting focused care on acne scars or specific concern areas. The physician will recommend the optimal method during consultation. Combining both methods is also possible.

How many sessions are typically needed to see results?

An initial series of 3 sessions at one-month intervals is recommended. Because collagen production progresses gradually, effects appear over the course of several weeks to several months. After that, maintenance every 6 months to 1 year helps support skin condition. Effects vary by individual.

What’s the difference between Juvelook and Rejuran?

Juvelook’s main components are PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid) and non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid, designed to support collagen production. Rejuran’s main component is PN (polynucleotides), designed to support skin regeneration. The two can be used selectively or in combination depending on your concerns. Please refer to the water-light injection hub page for details.

What’s the difference between Juvelook and hyaluronic acid filler?

Hyaluronic acid filler aims for immediate volume formation and is used for facial contouring and addressing sagging. Juvelook is designed to support collagen production and is suited for skin-texture improvement — pores, acne scars, texture, and skin quality. The goals differ, so we choose between them based on your concerns.

How much does it hurt?

We use topical numbing cream to manage discomfort. The needle sensation is often described as a mild prickling, but perception varies by individual. Please let us know in advance if you are sensitive to pain.

How much downtime is there?

Mild redness and swelling typically subside within 2–3 days, and makeup can be resumed the next day. Bruising, if it occurs, may persist for 1–2 weeks. While this is a low-impact procedure, please allow at least 1–2 weeks before important events.

Can lumps remain after the procedure?

Juvelook is reported to be relatively less prone to lump formation, but in rare cases induration (lumps) may occur. Most resolve naturally over several weeks to months, but please consult the physician if a lump persists for a long time or if granuloma formation is suspected.

Is it effective for acne scars (crater-type)?

Juvelook is used as an option that may help address atrophic (crater-type) acne scars through collagen production support. For deeper acne scars, multiple sessions are typically required, and combination with Dermapen is often recommended. We propose plans based on the severity of your concerns.

Are male patients welcome?

We welcome male patients. Because men’s skin tends to produce more sebum and pore concerns are common, more male patients are choosing Juvelook for pore care. Please contact us with any concerns about skin texture or wanting “a more polished impression.”

Can pregnant or breastfeeding patients receive this treatment?

Because safety has not been established, we ask pregnant and breastfeeding patients to refrain from this procedure. Please consult us about resuming after childbirth and the end of breastfeeding.

Why patients choose us

I’m worried about pores and acne scars, but I’m not sure which procedure is right for me…

Skin concerns like pores, acne scars, and texture have different causes and conditions, so the optimal approach varies. For Juvelook treatment, our clinic offers two injection methods — water-light injection and manual physician injection — that can be selected based on the area and scope of your concerns. We can also propose total care that combines Rejuran, Dermapen, and oral beauty medication. An experienced physician carefully assesses your skin condition and proposes the optimal plan. If you’re unsure which procedure suits you, please feel welcome to come in for a consultation.
